Hello, I’m Buffy the Camping Slayer! And yes, Buffy is my real name! By day I’m a Marketing and Corporate Event Manager and on the weekends my alter ego comes out who slays camping and the outdoors. I have been slaying camping and traveling for several years! I’m a girly girl with big blonde hair! In my full time job I travel all over the United States and even beyond planning large corporate events. I love clothes, shoes, purses, jewelry, makeup, planning parties, and goes overboard on most everything I dive into. As a girly girl who hates bugs, sweat and generally being outdoors, I was not the “average” person who one would think camps! But after many years of being married and raising my older daughter (now 18) with my husband, who by the way is Mr. Outdoors, rides ATVs, Snowmobiles and pretty much the polar opposite of me – he talked me into purchasing a travel trailer in 2009. Now my youngest daughter (7) is just like her dad and LOVES to be outdoors! Watch out for her guest appearances and contributions to my blog!!
Now on most weekends my camping slayer personality comes out who wears yoga pants, athletic shirts, tennis shoes, hair is in a pony and occasionally wears no make-up! Camping has been life changing and the amazing experiences we have created are some of my best memories!
What is Camping Slayer
Camping Slayer is designed to show all the fun travel options across the United States as well as camping adventures, focused mainly in the Midwest, and hopefully soon – across the country!!
You will get ideas on travel locations for family adventures, couples trips, girls trips and all the memories you can make along the way! Included are tips on packing, traveling with kids, crafts, fun foods and why camping helps you unplug and truly enjoy family life!
Not Just the Midwest!
Even though we are based in Iowa, and the closest airport is Omaha, NE – you will see trips across the entire United States! I love to travel and take my family with me when I can! Our camping adventures focus primarily in the Iowa and Nebraska area, but we venture out to South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Colorado and Wyoming!
Why?
I love to share my adventures and have been posting all my experiences on my personal Facebook page. I wanted a place to share more of our exciting adventures! This blog was created to get people away from their electronics and explore amazing places while making memories at every stop!
We became a better family and are choosing memories, while being comfortable, over not having the newest house or the newest car, and celebrating 23 years of marriage this year! I’m not saying that buying a camper will make everyone’s marriage and family life better, but it made me really learn what is important and how we can all learn to enjoy things a little out of our comfort zone, and they might become your new passion.
Summary
