LAKE VIEW

Located on Green Valley Lake, this campground has everything in a camper’s dream, Lake View spots, fishing, boating and a swim beach!   As the lake is only 390 acres, it is the perfect fishing and swimming lake.  There are also areas for skiing as well, so the lake has many things to offer.  There is a boat ramp and docks located at the campground, so boating is easily accessible.

BEACH

The beach is a little walk from the campground, but is easily accessible from the campground.  There is also plenty of parking around the beach as well, if you choose to drive over to it.  There is a nice bathroom near the beach but no showers.  There are also several places to stop and have a picnic as well as a sheltered pavilion.  We were there in April, so it was a little cool, but that didn’t stop my daughter and dog from getting in the water.

CAMPGROUND

The campground has 48 electrical spots, 15 Full Hook up sites, 6 Buddy Spots with electric, 2 Group Buddy Sites (room for 4 campers), 17 Tent/no electric sites and 1 Youth Group spot.  There are several spots along the lake that have some amazing views.  Several spots are very shaded and have long back in spots.  Each spot comes with a picnic table and fire pit.

Sites are generally nice and large and can easily accommodate a 35+ foot camper in most sites.  This park has 6 buddy sites that are nice when you have another friend/camper to join you.  What I loved about this park was the 2 Group Camping Spots that had 4 campers pulled in next to each other, to basically create a square.  This would be fun with a group of your camping friends!

SPOTS WE LIKE

While it would be great to get the spots that have full hook up, they are harder to reserve, as they are usually taken first.  We liked the spots along the lake, and each spot along the lake was nice and big with great lake views.  We stayed in site 12, but also liked spots:  23, 24 and 28.  Spot 28 was next to the boat docks, which would be perfect if you had a boat to tie up.  I really didn’t find a spot I didn’t like and even the spots there are not right on the water still had nice yards and long camping pads.

SHOWER HOUSE

The campground offers 2 Shower Houses.  Both were very clean and well maintained.  The main shower house is located in the middle of the campground, near the playground.  The second shower house is located in the lower part of the campground near sites, 71-73.

CABINS

If you don’t have a Camper/RV, and don’t want to tent, Green Valley also offers three cabins to rent.  These cabins also have amazing views of the lake as well.  For more information on the cabins, please check their website.

PLAYGROUNDS

There is a playground located in the main campground near the restrooms/shower house.  The playground was very newer and very nice with slides, swings and lots of climbing structures.  This playground is in a central point in the campground, and easily accessed by the entire campground.

There is a second older playground just outside of the campground.  This one happened to be my daughter’s favorite, since it has a merry-go-round!  She loves when her dad will spin her round and round.  This playground also had an older jungle-gym, slide and porch swing.

WALKING/BIKING

Walking or Biking at the campground is amazing!  There is a walking/biking trail that goes through the campground, along the lake and then heads out to the marsh area.  There is also lots of wildlife to look out for along the trail.  Great for bird watching and you might even catch glimpse of a deer in the fields.  The campground does have a few small inclines, but nothing major, so it is easy for even the little kids to ride their bikes around the entire campground.

DUMP STATION

The park has one dump station that was flat and easy accessible near the entrance to the campground.

SUMMARY

Green Valley is a great campground in western Iowa,   From camping with a lake view, to fishing and even dipping your toes in the sand at the beach, this campground is a must see.
