WEST OMAHA KOA

Just off Interstate 80 at the Gretna Exit, Same exit at the Nebraska Crossing Outlets, then left at the first stop lights, you will find this cozy KOA Campground.

In the past we hadn’t really even looked at KOA’s, because we always thought they were compact campgrounds without a lot of space.  While that is true for some KOA’s, we have begun to really enjoy all the amenities they have to offer!  Most sites have Full Hooks Ups, there is a pool, tons of activities for the Kids and the West Omaha KOA is situated in a very nice shaded area.

The West Omaha KOA is conveniently located near the Nebraska Crossing Outlets and not too far from Downtown Omaha.  If you are in the area to enjoy the Zoo or the College World Series, it is just a short drive to all the wonderful things Omaha has to offer.

OFFICE

The campground has a nice office/store located at the front of the campground.  They offer Ice, Firewood, and general camping supplies and treats and Pizza delivered right to your site!  This is also where you can purchase the bag of Rocks/Sand for the Mining Adventure – located by the playground.

REC HALL

The Rec Hall is the perfect place for crafts, and Ice Cream Social or even playing some fun board games, and even sitting back and watching a movie on the TV.

POOL

This is a huge plus, especially on those hot summer days!  The pool is very nice and they keep it covered at night – to help it stay cleaner.

BEAUTIFUL SETTING

The entire campground is very shaded, and nicely maintained.

ACTIVITIES

Activities were offered on Friday and Saturdays.  A ice cream social was offered on Friday Night, and Crafts like Tye Dye and other craft projects were offered.  There is also a movie played in the pavilion on Saturday Nights.

CAMPGROUND

Like most other KOAs we have been to, there are some very nice spots with Patios and more space between campers.  These spots are a premium and do cost more, but the other spots that don’t have a patio, and are pull through do have ample space for a picnic table and fire ring.  These are not super spacious spots, but offered us plenty of space between our camper and the others next to us.

SPOTS WE LIKE

We stayed in Spot 34, which was very easy to get into, close to all the amenities.  The spot was close to the office as well as across from the pavilion, pool and playground.  There are several spots that are premium and offer larger spots.

There are also some back in spots on the side of the pool that had larger spaces and were still nicely shaded.

SHOWER HOUSES

There is a nice, clean shower house located near the pool in the middle of the campground.

PLAYGROUND

There is a nice playground with plenty of benches and shade at the campground.  The equipment is a little dated, but all in good condition.  My daughter loved the Zip Line, Jump Shot and of course the Bouncy Pillow.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

Mining

The campground offers a mining experience.  My daughter spent a lot of time, just playing in the water coming out of the “Water Tower” and looking for rocks/crystals that might have fallen to the ground.  She absolutely loves rocks/crystals and this was a huge plus for us.

We decided to purchase the medium bag of rocks/sand/Fossils at the office.  She was able to “pan” for her treasures and got some really good gemstones, fossils and rocks.

Big Wheel Rentals

There are several big wheels available to rent.  The campground is mostly flat and was easy for my daughter to get around the entire campground on one of these rentals.

The rates for a single rider was $5 for a ½ hour.

Mini Golf

There is a 9 hole mini golf offered for free.  You can pick up your balls and clubs near the office.

Dog Park

For your four-legged fur babies, there is a nice fenced in dog park.  The park was also stocked with doggie bags and a trash can.

Volleyball

There is a nice Volleyball net located in the open field next to some of the tent camping sites.

CABINS

There are a few different size cabins offered throughout the campground. Mainly the cabins are located near the front part of the campground.

Please check website for pricing on the cabins.

SUMMARY

For a great campground near Omaha, just minutes away from the Nebraska Crossing Outlets, this is the prefect campground for a quick weekend get a way, or a wonderful spot when traveling through the area.

This campground has tons of activities and amenities for the Kiddos, as well as nice shaded pull through/Full Hook Up spots.

I would absolutely recommend this campground if you wanted to stay close to home in the Omaha/Metro area, or if you are just needing a spot for the night when passing through the area.
