TIMBERLINE CAMPGROUND

Just off Interstate 80 at the Waukee Exit (117), you will find this gem of a campground!  This campground has all the amenities of a full service campground.  The campground is Big Rig Friendly, with 90 camping sites.  32 of them are Pull Through -full hook up sites- 50 Amp.

OFFICE

The campground has a nice office/store located at the front of the campground.  They offer Ice, Firewood, and general camping supplies and treats.

REC HALL

The Rec Hall is the perfect place for kids and adults to play some classic arcade games, a game of pool or ping pong, or a nice gather area for events.  See Office for rates and guidelines for renting this space.

POOL

Timberline has a nice in ground pool that is 3ft to 5 ft and is free for those camping.  There is an additional fee for those wanting to use the pools that are visiting.

BEAUTIFUL SETTING

The entire campground is beautiful with lots of trees and areas to sit and relax.

CAMPGROUND

Many areas of the campground have lots of nice shade trees, and nice open spaces.

The camping sites do vary in length, so you will need to contact the office if you want a specific site.

Some of the sites are good in length, but don’t have too much space between campers.   There is still plenty of room for a picnic table and chairs to sit out and enjoy the evenings.

SPOTS WE LIKE

We stayed in Spot 50, which was very easy to get into, as it was straight up the hill past the pool, and you pulled right in.  It was a little tight between our camper and the others, but all other spots seemed about the same.  Spot 40 did have more of a yard, because there were no other campers next to them, but it is not a full hook up site, but does have water and electric.

SHOWER HOUSE

There is a nice, clean shower house located near the pool in the middle of the campground.

PLAYGROUND

There is a nice playground with plenty of benches and shade at the campground.  The equipment is a little dated, but all in good condition.  My daughter loves when there is a merry go round!

ACTIVITIES

Both Friday and Saturday night on the weekend we were there, the campground offered activities for the kids.  On Friday Night, they offered a glow scavenger hunt that kids had to find glow sticks hidden around the campground and bring back certain colors to win a prize.  On Saturday Night, they had a water balloon fight with a slip and slide!

WALKING/BIKING

The campground is pretty level, so biking walking is great.  You can walk through the campground and along the road towards the entrance of the campground.  The road is gravel, but very smooth and all areas are very well maintained.

DUMP STATION

There is a dump station close to spot 50 at the back of the campground.

SUMMARY

Timberline campground is a full service campground, close to the Interstate and several other attractions near the Des Moines area.  The campground offers a pool, activities, rec hall, store and a beautiful location.
