CAMPGROUND
Whitebreast Camp is located on Lake Red Rock, Iowa’s largest lake. It is just 10 minutes from Pella, and 15 minutes from Knoxville. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, biking and viewing wildlife.
Comprised of 4 sections, Whitebreast Campground has several sites that overlook the water. All sites are very spacious, with some spots longer for larger units.
This large campground offers 132 campsites and two group sites, all with either 30 or 50-amp electric hookups. Amenities include flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water, a dump station and boat ramp.
Younger campers love the park’s playgrounds, and the Whitebreast Beach is nearby.
LAKE RED ROCK
As Iowa’s largest lake, Lake Red Rock has plenty to do. Choose Kayaking, boating, fishing and many other activities.

BEAUTIFUL SETTING
The entire campground is beautiful with lots of trees and areas to sit and relax. The large camping spots are perfect for campfires and relaxing. The roads are perfect for walking or bike riding, even though a little hilly.
There is also a very nice bike trail that has an entrance at the campground.
SHELTERS
Two day use picnic shelters are also located within the Whitebreast Camp area. The Whitebreast Point shelter is a conventional open shelter and the Miner’s Retreat shelter is a small enclosed shelter.
CAMPGROUNDS
With 4 separate areas at Whitebreast there are plenty of spots to enjoy camping.
All sites are nice and wide, and several spots are longer for larger RVs or Campers. Each site comes with a picnic table and fire pit.
With all the trees, there is plenty of shade, and we felt all trees were trimmed up and didn’t have any issues with branches scraping our camper.
SPOTS WE LIKE
We stayed in the Medows section in spot 47. This was an end spot – which made it an even wider spot – but the view was mostly of trees in the lake. Spots further down – like 50-52 or up on the next section – spot 53 was very nice and had better lake views.
SHOWER HOUSE
Each section has nice and clean shower houses.
RESTROOMS
There are restrooms inside each shower houses as well as separate restrooms in each campground section.
PLAYGROUNDS
There are 2 large play structures in the Meadows section as well as another structure in the Ponca section. Each are well maintained. I would like to see additional seating for parents places – so parents can sit while watching their children.
WALKING/HIKING
With the extremely wooded area, there are some great hiking options. Even walking along the campground road was very nice. The campground is not flat, so there are some small hills, which was easy to walk or even bike.
BIKING
There is a very nice biking trial that goes around the lake section. Again, it is a little hilly, but easy to navigate.
BEACH
Beach access is available near the campground. We would drive to the beach from our camping spot – as it is not super close to the campground – but very close.
DUMP STATION
There is a dump station close to the entrance. You can also get drinking water here.
SUMMARY
Amazing wooded campground with beautiful lake views and large spots.
Since this campground is very close to Pella, it is the perfect spot to enjoy the Tulip Festival, or enjoy races in the town of Knoxville.
This campground would be absolutely beautiful in the Fall when all the trees are full of color. This is a very nice park, and can’t wait for our next visit.
