Worlds of Fun – Kansas City, Missouri

WORLDS OF FUN – KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI

Located off Interstate 435 in Kansas City, Missouri is a wonderful amusement park!  The park has been opened since 1973, and has the classic rides I remember riding as a kid and lots of improvements.  The park is clean and has lots of benches and seating areas, with plenty of shade.  Worlds of Fun has something for everyone!  From the fun and mild Carousel to the fast Mamba Steel Roller Coaster, this park has rides for kids to the thrill seeking.

COST

We stayed at the campground at Worlds of Fun Village, so we got discounted tickets for $33 each.  Because we stayed in later August.

Posted ticket prices are:  $62.00 for May-July.  August 1 – 10/28 tickets are $39.99.

Tickets get you into both Worlds of Fun and their waterpark – Oceans of Fun.

We were lucky to enjoy the park with our good friends, The Hancocks!

RIDES

You can find everything from family fun rides, like Fury of the Nile to several roller coasters at Worlds of Fun.

Some of the rides my family enjoyed were the Zulu, Falcon’s Flight, Steel Hawk, Le TaxiTour, Mustang Runner and the Grand Carrousel.

Because we stayed at the campground of Worlds of Fun Village, we entered the park at the back where you cross over to Oceans of Fun.  We were able to ride Mamba and Fury of the Nile 2 times right as the park opened, so these rides had no lines.

On a hot Saturday Morning in late August the park was still busy, but we were able to get on several rides in the morning with little to no wait.  I highly suggest getting there right when the park opens.

We were able to enjoy the morning at the park, and then walk back to Worlds of Fun Village to nap and refresh before coming back later in the evening when the weather cooled down.

PLANET SNOOPY

Even though there are rides that kids under 10 can enjoy throughout the park, there is a special section full of rides for kiddos 10 and under is Planet Snoopy!

You can also see Snoopy and some of his friends posing for pictures outside of the entrance to Planet Snoopy.  We got to see Lucy and Linus!

There are 22 different rides in Planet Snoopy!  Those with kids under 10 can spend the entire time just in this section of the park.  We were there on a busy Saturday, and we were able to get on every ride without a line at all.  So the kids could go from ride to ride!  They also spent a lot of time in the Peanut’s Playhouse, where there were air guns with soft balls that can be gathered and shot inside.

This was a great place for our 7, 9 and 11 year olds to spend part of their day in.

SHOPS

Throughout the park, there were cute places to purchase souvenirs and other items you would find in most amusement park.

FOOD/RESTAURANTS

The park allows you to bring in food and drink and has plenty of shaded spots to take a break and eat your picnic lunch or snacks.  There are also several locations to purchase at a very reasonable price, food and beverages.  Since the weather was very warm, we opted for a nice air conditioned restaurant – Chickie’s & Pete’s.  This restaurant offered chicken tenders, philly steak sandwiches and lots of Fries!

By the end of the night, everyone wanted a snack, so how can you resist the smell of cinnamon rolls, at Cinnabon!

SUMMARY

This is a classic amusement park, with the thrills of Wooden Roller Coasters like the Timber Wolf, or the fast and smooth Mamba and Patriot.  You can also find great rides for small kids at Worlds of Fun’s Planet Snoopy.  This park has something for everyone.  I highly recommend taking a stop at one of Kansas City’s top rated amusement parks!
