DOUBLE NICKEL CAMPGROUND

Just off Interstate 80 at the Waco Exit (360), you will find this cute full service campground!   The campground is Big Rig Friendly, with 47 camping sites.  All 47 are Pull Through –with the majority being full-hook ups.  They are hoping for the 2019 season that all of their sites will be full hook ups.

 OFFICE

The campground has a nice office/store located at the front of the campground.  They offer Ice, Firewood, and general camping supplies and treats.

REC HALL

The Rec Hall is the perfect place for kids and adults to play some classic arcade games, pin ball and foosball.  They also have a large TV and other board games with tables set up for people to play at as well.

POOL

Double Nickle has a nice in ground pool and is free for those camping.  Unfortunately, we were there after the pool had closed for the season, so we did not get to enjoy it.   But I’m sure it is great to cool off in the warm Nebraska Summers.

BEAUTIFUL SETTING

The entire campground is beautiful with lots of trees and areas to sit and relax.  All of the premium sites have their own porch swing, and you will also notice these swings around the campground, close to the playground, and other areas as well.  The campground also sits next to a golf course, so you are able to see a couple of the holes for golf, which makes the setting very picturesque.

ACTIVITIES

On Saturday afternoons, a craft is offered in the Recreation Hall/Office area.  The weekend we were there, they offered to make scarecrows!  The craft was very well organized with supplies set out on each table, and Amanda did a great job explaining each step, and even written instructions were placed on each table.

Saturday night around dusk they also offered an outdoor movie!  The movie that played while we were there was a great family hit – Cloudy with a Change of Meatballs!  Nothing is better than joining your fellow campers and kiddos with lawn chairs and watching a family friendly movie.  This was a nice activity to offer!

CAMPGROUND

All the sites were very roomy.   All of the full hook up sites had plenty of room between each camper, as well as a nice “yard” area.  You are not jammed next to each other at all.

Even the regular sites still had nice areas, and as stated above, each of the Premium sites has their own porch swing.

They also offer a fire ring for fires and a picnic table at each site.

SPOTS WE LIKE

We stayed in Spot 303, which was very easy to get into.   Once you check into the office you are taken to your site by following a golf cart, and they ask you if you would like ice or firewood delivered to your site!  Again, this is a great family owned campground that offers you all the extras!

SHOWER HOUSE

There is a nice, clean shower house located near the pool in the middle of the campground.

LAUNDRY ROOM

One the backside of the Shower House is a Laundry Room, with 2 Washers, 2 Dryers, plenty of room for folding your clothes, as well as books and even a iron board!   I’m sure there are times that people have needed an iron and iron board – but generally when I’m camping, I try not to have anything that might need ironing!!

PLAYGROUND

The playground was very large and 2 sections to it.  One section has swings, a slide, tether ball and a jungle gym.

The other section of the playground has a climbing structure as well as large tires to climb on and in.  The entire playground is sand, so this was nice as we brought over our sand toys to play in the sand.

DOG PARK

As a pet owner, having a dog park is not a necessity at a campground, but it is always great, when your dog can be off leash and run around inside an enclosed/fenced area.  Double Nickel had a very nice dog park, complete with a porch swing and even a hydrant in the middle!

MINI-GOLF

There is a full 18 hole mini golf course that is free for those staying at the campground.  All you need to do is get your balls and putters from the office.  The course is well designed and just challenging enough for little kids and adults as well.  It was nice to play with the family on a Saturday afternoon, and since it is included in your camping fee, you don’t feel that everything costs extra.

WALKING/BIKING

The campground is pretty level, so biking walking is great.  You can walk through the campground and along the road towards the entrance of the campground.  The road is gravel, but very smooth and all areas are very well maintained.  Even though you are right off the interstate, you still feel like you are in a nice country setting.  Also, being next to the golf course, you can walk through the campground, and see great views of the Sandy Meadows Golf Course as well.

DUMP STATION

There is a dump station next to the park for those that do not have Full Hook Up sites.

SUMMARY

Double Nickel campground is a very nice full service campground not too far from the Omaha Metro area.  If you want to get away, but still have a full service and even several full hook up camping sites, this campground is for you.  The activities, the setting and the staff are all amazing.  The campground offers a pool, activities, rec hall, store and a beautiful location.
